Premier League Betting Tips – Week 5
Hello, and welcome to another super speedy edition of my Premier League Betting Tips! I’ve been requisitioned for emergency cricket duty at the last minute, so I’m under a bit of time pressure once more.

These are our week 5 Premier League fixtures:
This really is a cracking slate of fixtures. Liverpool and Man City will win, as always, but at least the latter should be involved in a shootout at Norwich.
Aside from that, there’s not one game I’d confidently pick the winner of… but there are plenty of games which I think will be close. And, crucially, in which both teams will score. Hence, I welcome to you the (accidental) BTTS Edition of my tips!

Best Bets
In my eyes, this pair are the safest picks of the bunch. Naturally, each is a Both Teams to Score.
—
Wolves vs Chelsea, BTTS
8/11
—
Perhaps the most unpredictable game of the weekend.
Frankly, both teams have been all over the place this season, oscillating wildly between halves of beautiful and awful football. Thus, when this pair clash, entertainment (and chaos) should ensue.
Gun to my head, I’d take Wolves to win this. Pleasantly for me there isn’t a gun to my head, so I’ll take the much safer Both Teams to Score. Even if this fizzles into an underwhelming 1-1 (also entirely possible), that’ll still do nicely.
—
Watford vs Arsenal, BTTS
1/2
—
As a fan of the away side, here’s the game I’m least looking forward to this weekend! Arsenal’s 1-0 win quickly becoming a 2-1 loss at Vicarage Road in 17/18 (the ‘Cojones‘ game) was one of my most frustrating footballing experiences in living memory. Scraping a 1-0 in the same fixture last year did little to erase this painful memory.
With my hat of neutrality on, this looks a damn safe bet. Arsenal BTTS’s were one of my safest picks throughout last season. The attack is fantastic, and – following a brief flirtation with being defensively solid – the Gunners have now reverted to comic type at the back.
Yes, Watford have been rubbish, but they’ll get a new (old) manager bounce from Sánchez Flores. More importantly, I frankly don’t think it matters who Arsenal are actually playing right now – they’ll almost certainly concede anyway.
Tasty Tips
These are solid picks as well… just not quite as safe as my Best Bets. They’re both worthy of a nice stake, though.
Can you guess the bet types here? That’s right… they’re both BTTS!

Bournemouth vs Everton, BTTS
8/13
—
Another game in which almost nothing would surprise me. This could be 4-1 Bournemouth, 4-1 Everton, or – thanks to Everton’s incredible early season dullness – an underwhelming 1-1.
I would be highly surprised if both teams didn’t score, though. Bournemouth haven’t kept a clean sheet yet this season (and had the 3rd-worst defensive record in 18/19)… but they’ve also scored in every game so far.
Everton were ludicrously boring early doors in 19/20, as noted, but actually looked extremely threatening against Wolves. They got three goals against a much better defense than Bournemouth’s, and it should have been more.
—
Norwich vs Man City, BTTS
8/15
—
I mean… come on. These are probably the two most attacking teams in the league, and – even if City should obviously win comfortably – there will be plenty of action going both ways.
The Over 2.5 Goals is a prohibitively low 2/9, but the Over 3.5 is decent value at 8/15. At that price though, I’d rather take the BTTS, which seems slightly safer.
City will obviously score, and – at the back – Laporte should be a massive loss. Otamendi is a calamity-prone defender by nature, and now he doesn’t have the Frenchman’s speed and instincts to cover for him. Against an attack like Norwich’s, with a striker like Pukki, that spells danger.
Flyers
These are the riskiest bets of the bunch (aside from the multiples, of course). They’re fun enough, but don’t stick a lot down on them.

Palace to Win at Spurs
15/2
—
Spurs are all over the place, and Palace are coming off back-to-back wins (including away to Man U). They were also incredible on the road last year, as I’ve mentioned many times. What’s not to like?!
This obviously isn’t a safe bet, but I actually think it offers excellent value.
—
Pukki to Score Anytime
19/10
—
All hail the Premier League’s Official Best Player, Teemu Pukki. He’s scored in three of the first four Premier League games, and registered in both international games during the break.
As noted, City’s defence suddenly isn’t as steady as it was, and Pukki already scored against Liverpool.
Finally… this is just a fun bet to root for!
